IMAGINE PEACE

Strawberry Fields
by Arlene Rosenblum and Bob Nemser

We spent today, December 8, 2007, at Strawberry Fields in New York City commemorating the 27th anniversary of the passing of John Lennon. We make it a point to pay tribute to John on December 8th every year. When we arrived, the first person we ran into was Sid Bernstein, the promoter who brought The Beatles to America. He, too, was spending the day remembering John.

Our time at Strawberry Fields was one of reflection, remembrance, and contemplation. Surrounded by hundreds of loving fans, we sang Beatles songs, felt John's message of peace and love, and prayed for a better tomorrow. It was heartwarming to see young and old gathered around the Imagine circular mosiac singing John's praises. Hopefully, the torch will be passed to this younger generation, and John's message will live forever, as we all imagine a world where war is over because we want it.

Rest in peace, John. We miss you.
