IMAGINE PEACE / IMAGINETE LA PAZ in San Antonio
Mikihiko Hori
I went to San Antonio on September 26th, '07 not only to see the opening of the Yoko Ono: IMAGINE PEACE show, but also the nine "IMAGINE PEACE IMAGINETE LA PAZ" billboards which stand proudly under the hot Texas sun.
I determined to see and take photos of all nine billboards by driving a rental car from one location to another, but I totally underestimated how huge San Antonio was.
While chasing after the billboards, sometimes I got lost and found myself standing alone in the middle of nowhere.
Some "IMAGINE PEACE IMAGINETE LA PAZ" billboards have been placed in downtown San Antonio, some on the local residential streets, one close to a Military Base, and one in a completely empty property which reminded me of the badlands.
The exact locations of the billboards are as follows:
1 / Highway 78 ES 0.2mi. S/O Loop 1604 F/Ne

2 / Thousand Oaks NS 1.2mi. W/O Wetmore F/NW

3 / Benedera ES 150ft. N/O Ligustrum F/SE

4 / Austin Highway ES 520ft. N/O Vandiver F/NE
