AUNG SAN SUU KYI
Today, 24th October 2007 marks a total of 12 years that Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's democracy leader, has spent under house arrest in Burma.
Like South African leader Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi is a symbol of heroic and courageous resistance in the face of oppression imprisoned simply because of her peaceful call for a free Burma.
Known to many of her followers as 'The Lady', Aung San Suu Kyi is the only imprisoned Nobel Peace Laureate.
My Sister, your spirit shines in the midst of darkness. Your resilience shames us and encourages us to keep the fight for justice and freedom. Please know that you are in the hearts of each one of us who believe in the new world to come.
In sisterhood,
Yoko Ono Lennon.
