IMAGINE PEACE in Bethseda, Maryland.
Today our class of seventh graders (ages 12-13) at the Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Church in Bethesda, Maryland, USA, learned about John Lennon and Yoko Ono as artists and peace activitists. We listened and read the words to the song "Imagine" as an international peace anthem, and talked about the dedication of the Imagine Peace Tower. We also discussed the importance of believing in and working for peace.
After our discussion, we made wishes on colored construction paper for our "Wish Tree." In the courtyard of our church there is a young tree dedicated to the memory of Luke Carter-Schelp, a seventh grader at our church who died in an accident almost a year ago, and it seemed appropriate to use Luke's tree for our wishes. Attached is our photo.
We are very happy to be a part of this world event.
