YOKO ONO INTERVIEW
Ms Magazine Nov 2007
Feminism is celebrating the feminine quality in all of us, embracing men who wish to cherish their feminine side as well. Change the name and they will intimidate us again. I also think it is an insult to all the women (and men) who fought for feminism over the last century of human history. More here. |

Aung San Suu Kyi
Today, October 24th marks a total of 12 years that Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma's democracy leader, has spent under house arrest in Burma. Like South African leader Nelson Mandela, Aung San Suu Kyi is a symbol of heroic and courageous resistance in the face of oppression imprisoned simply because of her peaceful call for a free Burma. Known to many of her followers as 'The Lady', Aung San Suu Kyi is the only imprisoned Nobel Peace Laureate.
My Sister, your spirit shines in the midst of darkness. Your resilience shames us and encourages us to keep the fight for justice and freedom. Please know that you are in the hearts of each one of us who believe in the new world to come.
In sisterhood,
Yoko Ono Lennon.

In a place called Nutopia. Wasn't that great when John (Lennon) and I came up with that concept? A country with no physical or racial borders.

WEAR PINK!
This is Pink Day. So wear PINK!"
I said that to some stranger who was walking by me when this picture was taken, and the guy said "How do you know I'm gay?" Well, I didn't know, and I didn't ask, did I?
The guy was just being funny.
Me, him and the photographer - we all laughed.
New York is warm again, like summer.
The weather is so crazeee these days, isn't it?
Well, just remember: This is PINK day.
So wear PINK!
I love you!

ICELAND REVIEW ONLINE
Most readers of our website should know by now that Yoko Ono, John Lennon's widow, unveiled her latest piece of art on Videy Island in Reykjavik earlier this week. Yoko and her works have always been controversial so it is a pleasant surprise how happy the inhabitants of Reykjavik seem to be with her pillar of light. more here. |

YOKO ONO MEETS BETH DITTO
Observer Music Monthly
Beth Ditto, larger than life frontwoman of the Gossip, has told someone who happens to know Yoko Ono that the venerable artist and musician is her all-time heroine. Then it transpires that the pair will both be in London the same week, and plans are put in place for a first-time meeting. OMM stands by as Beth, who is rather sweetly very nervous, hurls herself into the encounter ... |

Imagine Peace - A Ray of Light in Dark Times
By Amy Goodman
John Lennon would have turned 67 years old last week had he not been murdered in 1980, at the age of 40, by a mentally disturbed fan. On his birthday, Oct. 9, his widow, peace activist and artist Yoko Ono, realized a dream they shared. In Iceland, she inaugurated the Imagine Peace Tower, a pillar of light emerging from a wishing well, surrounded on the ground by the phrase IMAGINE PEACE in 24 languages. More here.

I was really glad that I went on DEMOCRACY NOW. I was kinda intimidated to go on since I had heard so much about Amy Goodman, how strong and powerful she was. When I finally got to see her, she was nothing like what I envisioned! She is a beautiful, young woman with very delicate and sensitive demeanor. How does she do it?
The slogan I came up with after the show was:
THINK PEACE, ACT PEACE, SPREAD PEACE!
I know we will.
Thanx for the inspiration, Amy.
Lots of love to you and your show. yoko |
