Tamera Peace Research Center, Portugal
by Leila Dregger

Dear Yoko, Thank you for your personal reply! And thank you for putting the message about our GRACE pilgrimage on your website. It is impressive to look through your work – and through the inspiring messages that you and John Lennon created.
War is over – if you want it.
If you can imagine a world of peace, then it can be true.

For me your lines are absolutely true and today, these can even be explained in scientific terms. These lines could also be the motto for the Peace Research Center of Tamera.
Today Tamera is a training and experimental site for the construction of Peace Villages around the world. More here.

On December, 8th artists of our Art-center gathered in the Nonconformist Arts Museum for being together with you.
At 11.15 pm (local time) we started to light candles in memory of John Lennon and those who has passed away. We lighted 250 candles in the Museum. Everyone has lost some relations and close friends. We live in Russia and all know what War means. Our fathers and grandfathers were soldiers. We have much pain about Afghanistan and Chechnya. We know, it is never late to stop the war!

Yoko Ono - 'I still talk to John'
by Chrissey Iley

More than 27 years after she lost the love of her life, the artist and performer talks about living without John, coping with being a hate figure and how she is still fighting to Give Peace A Chance.
"I don't think John's life is finished," she says. "When you listen to his music he's still there, especially at Christmas-time because it's so close to the anniversary of his death. It feels like he's omnipresent. You know how we think of God as the only one who is? So, in a way I don't think of that moment as the end of his life."

The final ballad of John and Yoko
by Miriam Di Nunzio, Chicago Sun Tmes

In November 1980, on the eve of the release of "Double Fantasy," and the end of a near five-year seclusion, John Lennon and Yoko Ono allowed one photographer to share their life, their laughter, their conversations and their favorite New York places in a series of photographs that, for the most part, would remain out of sight for the next two decades.

YOKO ONO: Women of Power Questionnaire
Did your upbringing or early experiences influence the direction you took in life? Defnitely. I rebelled.
What inspires you in life? Adversity.
What most provokes you to anger, and do you believe in forgiveness? Injustice. Forgiving is releasing in order to walk away. Yes. I believe in releasing.
Do you think there will ever be equality in humankind, an end to poverty and injustice? Equality, at least, is not what I'm looking for. I would like to see all people achieve their dreams. Dreams may not make them equal. More here.

Centre of the Creative Universe offers a unique account of Liverpool's art scene over the past fifty years. Moving from the immediate post-war period to the present day, it explores how the city has inspired a diverse range of nationally & internationally renowned artists to create an external view of Liverpool and its people. Throughout the 60s & 70s Liverpool was an important site for experimental art and happenings. Yoko Ono performed Concert of Music for the Mind and the premiere of The Fog Machine at the Bluecoat Gallery in 1967. More here.

Spellbinding 'Dream Power'
by Eva Zanardi

I was one of the lucky people invited to the seventh edition of the Dream Power John Lennon Super Live concert in Tokyo, a yearly benefit concert starring top Japanese singers coming together to perform songs composed and/or sung by John Lennon, in which the proceeds go mainly towards the building of schools for deprived children in Asia and Africa. I have to admit that, at the time my invitation came, my knowledge of Japanese pop music was as extensive of that of 11th century Gregorian chants. Although, knowing it was the brainchild of Yoko Ono and being a huge fan of both her work as an artist and humanitarian, I accepted and immediately started the necessary homework. More here.

Dear Friends
by Yoko Ono Lennon: 12 December 2007

Around the world, December 8th was a day of remembrance for John Lennon. In Reykjavik, I heard that the December 8th remembrance ceremony at the IMAGINE PEACE TOWER on Videy Island went beautifully. The ferry had special trips until 11pm and several hundred people went on Videy into the night.
In New York City, thousands of people gathered on December 8th, at Strawberry Fields in Central Park, throughout the day and night to celebrate and remember John.
I was in Tokyo on December 8th, participating in the annual Dream Power tribute concert for John at the historical Budokan, the concert hall where the Beatles did their concert many years ago. Every year I travel to Japan to be at the Dream Power celebration. More here.

The US vs John Lennon - interview with Yoko Ono
Q: Many movies have been made about the Beatles and John Lennon, but what was your honest impression when you first heard about the project for this movie?

YO: I was very happy. Because when people would approach me wanting to make a movie or musical of John's life, they always wanted to add scandals and things like, he did not get along well with the other members of the Beatles, etc. What John did throughout his life was, after all, wish for world peace. He made many efforts toward that, but that was not quite known to the world at all. I thought that this movie would convey that, therefore, I said, "then, let's do it". More here.

We walked with 168 people by foot through the desert from Eilat to Jerusalem, adults and children, people from Israel, Palestine and many countries, for four weeks. We walked through Israel and the Westbank. We slept in the sand, and we were hosted in Kibbuzim, settlements, Bedouin villages, army camps, and Palestinian refugee camps. We spoke with everybody. What we found were people, humans, children. Not enemies. More here.

Happy Xmas - Your War Is Over!

Gordon Brown yesterday delivered a stirring festive message to Our Boys in Iraq: "Happy Christmas - War Is Over."
The PM was cheered as he praised UK troops and revealed combat operations in Basra will end "within two weeks".
Iraqi forces will take over as the 4,500-strong British force switches from front-line duties to a training role.
By early next year, our contingent in Southern Iraq will be cut to 2,500 - and may be withdrawn completely in March.

We spent today, December 8, 2007, at Strawberry Fields in New York City commemorating the 27th anniversary of the passing of John Lennon. We make it a point to pay tribute to John on December 8th every year. When we arrived, the first person we ran into was Sid Bernstein, the promoter who brought The Beatles to America. DREAM POWER JOHN LENNON SUPER LIVE 2007
by Mikihiko Hori

"Dream Power John Lennon Super Live 2007", which was held on 8 Dec 2007, the 27th anniversary of John Lennon's death, was a great success. With the proceeds of this year's concert 10 more schools can be built in Asia and Africa.
Yoko said at the concert, "Let's bring peace into the world by using Nenriki (psychokinesis) by Japanese people". I thought that the word Yoko used in this statement was very typical of her. As for the Japanese word, "Nenriki", "Nen" means "wish" and "riki" means "power".

I Miss You, John
by Yoko Ono Lennon:
December 8, 2007
I miss you, John. 27 years later, I still wish I could turn back the clock to the Summer of 1980. I remember everything - sharing our morning coffee, walking in the park together on a beautiful day, and seeing your hand stretched to mine - holding it, reassuring me that I shouldn't worry about anything because our life was good.
I had no idea that life was about to teach me the toughest lesson of all. I learned the intense pain of losing a loved one suddenly, without warning, and without having the time for a final hug and the chance to say, "I love you," for the last time. The pain and shock of that sudden loss is with me every moment of every day. More here

What is Peace?
by Cindy Sheehan

John's widow, Yoko Ono Lennon, has been very tireless in striving for world peace and in continuing her husband's legacy. I know that my work for peace began when I wanted to make meaning out of my son's senseless and violent death at the hands of the war pigs.

We cannot let their deaths be in vain!

It was in the season of peace that John Lennon was killed, when instead of a frenzy of shopping and an orgy of eating, we should all be reflecting on elevating the situation of our less fortunate brothers and sisters to bring peace to our part of the world that will have a ripple effect that spreads worldwide.

At the request of Yoko, let's make today a day of reflecting on true peace. Take a few moments at 11:15 EST and remember John and what he gave the world and what his legacy should be.

After Ms.Ono finished writing her wish on the card, she tied the card on the orange tree, installed in the lobby on the 2nd floor of the museum. Regarding her own wish, she mentioned, "I am wishing everyday that we could create a world where one can live happily. By wishing it repeatedly, it will become reality."

IMAGINE PEACE
by Carolina Berdini

Hi Yoko!
My name's Carolina Berdini and I'm a teacher of English from Argentina. I work at an institute where children and people from all ages learn English. Among all the different courses I have, there's one which has been really special to me this year. They are between 11 and 13 years old and I have taught them about John Lennon, his message of peace and the Vietnam War.

It's been an amazing experience!!! They've learnt a lot about history, but above all, they've learnt a lot about love and peace. besides, they fell in love with the song "Imagine". For the family's day, I invited the parents to one of the classes, and my students taught them the song and different things about John's life.

I almost cried when I saw my students with their family singing Imagine all together. It's been really inspiring for me and my students! They've learnt more than words and content, they've learnt values!

John and his message are still alive in our hearts!
Love and Peace from Argentina!

Lennon Uncut
The January issue of UNCUT (UK mag) is on sale now
featuring an all-star panel of musicians selecting their favourite song by the late Beatle John Lennon. Which Lennon song "flipped out" Brian Wilson when he first heard it? Which one reminds Arctic Monkey Alex Turner of his mum and dad? And when we asked The Who's Roger Daltrey for his favourite, what on earth led him to conclude: "I can see why people go completely mad in this business."? And there's many, many brilliant contributions from the likes of Yoko Ono, John Cale, John Lydon, Jarvis Cocker and Liam Gallagher.
