Reykjavik Grapevine Airwaves review of Yoko Ono Plastic Ono Band show in Iceland

"A Tradition in our family" by Kári Tulinius, Reykjavik Grapevine Airwaves. I did not know what to expect from tonight’s lineup. Essentially it was Plastic Ono Band and various sub-voltrons thereof. I was afraid the gig would be hermetic and insular. People playing for their friends. This could not have been further from the truth. This [...]

Popnography: Yoko Ono is a Chart-Topping Diva Who Loves Lady Gaga

It’s true. Not only has the 78-year-old artist hit #1 this week on the Billboard Dance Club Play singles chart with “Talking to the Universe, ” she’s also a big fan of Lady Gaga. Gay.net reports that Ono is making a fierce comeback as a diva of dance music with her latest chart-topper being her seventh consecutive No. 1 dance single and her ninth overall. “Isn’t that amazing?” Ono said. “I can’t believe it. But it’s a good song.”

On Memorial Day 2011: NOW OR NEVER by Yoko Ono Lennon

Reading the lyrics after so many years made me choke up. NOW OR NEVER! It works now. The lines "Are we gonna keep shooting the ones that try to change, Are we gonna keep thinking it won't happen to us" were hard to read. When I wrote those lines, John and I were a proud and happy couple, believing that it would make a difference to speak out. And I think it did. I didn't know that John was the one who would be shot to death for trying to change... But they couldn't kill him. His spirit is still alive and growing inside all of us. yoko Yoko Ono Lennon, Memorial Day, 30 May 2011

Yoko Ono & Special Guests WE ARE PLASTIC ONO BAND – 2 nights at The Orpheum – **PHOTOS & VIDEO**

Saturday - The night was hot! The whole audience gave a standing ovation to Lady Gaga from the minute she appeared on the stage to when her turn was over. And that is saying a lot. That meant people were standing through the long, long songs - THE SUN IS DOWN and IT'S BEEN VERY HARD. It's a record! At the end of IT'S BEEN VERY HARD, Lady Gaga started to play the piano with her high heel shoes, and I went up on the top of the piano and started jamming lying down. Right away, Lady Gaga climbed up on the piano right next to me, and two of us jammed, in tune, of course. I am sure the audience would never forget this night... You can say that two of us came from one clay.... yoko

A Message from Yoko Ono Lennon: "In this very special year, which would have seen my husband and life partner John reach the age of 70, I hope that this remastering / reissue programme will help bring his incredible music to a whole new audience. By remastering 121 tracks spanning his solo career, I hope also that those who are already familiar with John's work will find renewed inspiration from his incredible gifts as a songwriter, musician and vocalist and from his power as a commentator on the human condition. His lyrics are as relevant today as they were when they were first written and I can think of no more apposite title for this campaign than those simple yet direct words 'Gimme Some Truth'." - Yoko Ono Lennon

BAM! by Yoko Ono: We Are Plastic Ono Band: Yoko + incredible special guests: Brooklyn Academy of Music, NY 16 Feb

BAM! Suddenly the audience started to sing Happy Birthday to me right in the middle of the sing along GIVE PEACE A CHANCE! That was such a nice surprise. I was so unprepared for it, I don't even remember if I had thanked the audience or not. Did I? There was so much love circulating, it didn't seem necessary to say anything... We were family. The curtain went down after GIVE PEACE A CHANCE. Sean and I looked at each other. Sean's eyes were twinkling. "You were great." said Sean. "So were you." It was a grand moment. We knew we had been witnesses to something that was bigger than both of us.
