Read Yoko’s tribute to David Bowie

DAVID BOWIE John and David respected each other. They were well matched in intellect and talent. As John and I had very few friends we felt David was as close as family. After John died, David was always there for Sean and me. When Sean was at boarding school in Switzerland, David would pick him [...]

Lou Reed

The last time I saw Lou was when we did a show together in New York to raise money for the victims of the Fukushima disaster. Lou's song was full of anger. I couldn't help asking why. Lou just smiled a warm smile. I will never forget that smile. Lou will always be in our [...]

Happy Mother’s Day! love, yoko

HAPPY MOTHERS DAY!  Dear Friends I would like to give an accolade to our mothers who passed away, without being acknowledged of the beautiful thing they did. The Lighter by Yoko Ono

Karuizawa is an old summer resort in Japan very much like the Hamptons except it’s in the mountains. There is a coffee house in a pine forest near Karuizawa. John & I fell in love with the place, and found ourselves going there almost every day with Sean. To get there, you had to go cycling for about 30 minutes from the town of Karuizawa. But we loved going there. There was a big hammock in the backyard, and John, Sean and I used to spend the afternoon lying in it, giggling, singing, and watching the sky...

On Memorial Day 2011: NOW OR NEVER by Yoko Ono Lennon

Reading the lyrics after so many years made me choke up. NOW OR NEVER! It works now. The lines "Are we gonna keep shooting the ones that try to change, Are we gonna keep thinking it won't happen to us" were hard to read. When I wrote those lines, John and I were a proud and happy couple, believing that it would make a difference to speak out. And I think it did. I didn't know that John was the one who would be shot to death for trying to change... But they couldn't kill him. His spirit is still alive and growing inside all of us. yoko Yoko Ono Lennon, Memorial Day, 30 May 2011
